Thursday, June 28, 2007 'Come back soon' Connectvision for Apollo Cinemas Altrincham By host @ 4:17 PM :: 597 Views     The UK's largest independent cinema exhibitor, Apollo Cinemas, is using Connectvision at its new six screen cinema in Altrincham. In addition to supporting concession sales, film trailers and movie news, Connectvision is also integrated with the Apollo's ticketing system automatically generating up to the second information on film times and seat availability for every film. The six screen luxury Altrincham cinema has many of the features of Apollo's West End flagship, including full air conditioning throughout, tiered armchair seating, digital sound and a licensed bar. Connectvision is used by staff to manage the content and scheduling for the seven large LCD   displays throughout the cinema. In the concessions area, the screens' prices are automatically updated by Saturn under Saturn's Managed Service, ensuring the cinema's concession prices are consistent with other Apollo cinemas. Apollo has deployed Connectvision to maximum effect by using the LCDs to inform customers in the cinema as well as when they are about to leave. In addition to the two box office LCDs, there are screens in the bar and close to the cinema main exit. In the bar Cinemavision provides a split screen combining Sky News, news of forthcoming features and times, together with film trailers downloaded from Saturn. “We want to encourage customers to spend longer in the bar area and so the more interesting the information on the screen the more likely they are to wait in the bar rather than queuing outside each auditorium,” said the manager at Apollo Altrincham. Encouraging customers to come back soon is key to the success of the Altrincham Apollo. The manager believes that using an LCD screen which faces customers as they leave the cinema will have a lasting effect, “We're running trailers for forthcoming features designed to catch the eye and say - You've had a great times so why not come back for more?”
